Paci Buffet :)

Don't we all love buffets? Not necessarily for the volume of food, but for the selection. You are not forced to choose between two different things you may be desiring at the particular time, but are allowed to choose a little (or alot) of both. Well, I observed a new type of buffet with similar ideas just a few minutes ago. Olivia is now 18 months old and of course it is time to get rid of the paci (the sad part is she has just recently become attached to it and with a vengence!). So our first step is always to limit it to bed usage. You may have it in the crib for nap or night time but you must leave it there. Well, we were reading books and she was digging in the basket of books by the rocker in her room and she comes up with a paci (and a totally delighted look on her face). I want to be lenient because she is just so cute and excited about her find, but I also realize that I could end up in a world of hurt with those types of weaknesses as a mother....So being the bear that I am, I tell her it must go in her bed and I ask her to put it there. She of course, giggles, smiles around the paci and dashes out the door and down the hall. (She is quite a fast toddler and I stuggle to catch up in my socks on these slippery hardwood floors). After a short disciplinary action, she (watching me over her shoulder) pushes the paci through the slats of the bed and then points and grunts to the bed. So I ask if she's ready for a nap and she keeps grunting and pointing. So I put her in her bed and we remove her shoes and what to her wondering eyes should appear?????, but a paci buffet. I leave the room smiling as my precious daughter sits in the bed and puts one paci in her mouth....removes it with an impressive pop and chooses another.....then removes it.....and chooses another. I believe she had 4 choices....I hope it's not too difficult for her in the end and she does get that oh so necessary nap. :) Just wanted to share one of my small joys! Hope you have a great day!! Olivia currently is :)!!!

Love,
Zookeeper
