I'm an Aunt again!!!!!

Well, after 7 months, my nephew has decided that he doesn't want to wait any longer to meet the world. I have to admit, I was really sad that I was not going to be able to meet him prior to my return to Zambia, but I didn't wish to meet in quite this manner. But the Lord has been good to us.
Good plan.....didn't quite work out. Mission Accomplished!
After 2 days of magnesium to allow the steroid shots to have their maximum effect on the baby's lungs, the mag was stopped and labor resumed. Just an hour and a half after Amy received the epidural, Owen entered the world.

Meet Owen Douglass Manguso
4lbs 4oz
18 inches
Apgar 9.9

After a few minutes of O2, Owen began breathing and crying a healthy cry all on his own.

Happy Mommy and Daddy

A relieved mommy and her new baby boy.

A VERY relieved Daddy with his new baby boy.

Owen is now in the NICU. He has a private room that Amy and Chris can stay in with him whenever they want to. As family, we were allowed to go in and see him, but only mom and dad are allowed to touch. He began receiving tube feedings of breast milk today and tolerated and digested them well. His two goals for going home are to be able to regulate his own body temperature and be able to feed on his own.

Amy will be discharged tomorrow.

Thank you for all your prayers.

What a beautiful little boy. I know that Amy and Chris are so very happy. And isn't it wondeful that you got to meet Owen before going back to Zambia. God is so good.
