Watching the chameleons move reminds me of the "Charleston," 2 steps forward, 2 steps back.

Analogous to 'tip of the iceberg,' a common expression here is 'to only see the ear of the hippo.'

Almost hit this wart hog with the car.

Weaver bird. The females insist on a new house every year, so we were told, and the male makes it while she watches. Apparently, if she doesn't like it, she tears it up, and he has to start over. If she doesn't like the next one he builds, she moves on to find a better builder.
