Well, we’re really settling in very nicely. Samantha was galloping around the house the other morning and declared “I love my house”. The girls love being able to swim after school and we had some friends over for lunch and swim on Wednesday. We all had a wonderful time. My friend Celia brought a piece of fabric with her and taught me how to wrap Olivia to my hip the way it is done in much of the world (she learned in Indonesia). It was great! Olivia gets to sit on my hip where she thinks she’s supposed to be attached anyway and I still have 2 hands to use. Now getting her on there myself will take some practice. Celia said it took her a month to get it without help. My next item on the agenda will be to acquire 2 meters of appropriate fabric (probably at a market somewhere) and begin practicing.
Samantha and Flo were two peas in a pod all afternoon. Kaitlyn observed that Samantha has found someone she “clicks” with.
Samantha and Flo driving Celia's "Bus". Samantha wanted to know if she could "have the keys and really drive it the back yard" Guess she's thinking about the dually at Grandpop's farm :)
I had Samantha’s teacher conference yesterday and she received “Good” (highest mark) for behavior and satisfactory on all her school work. I am very pleased because we came here VERY behind the other students. Her teacher says she is making friends and catching up nicely. Samantha doesn’t hesitate to let them know if she doesn’t know how to do something. I believe her phrase of choice according to Mrs. Mfula is: “I’ve never been in school before. I don’t know how to do that”. I was really impressed with all that they are doing. I knew she was being taught (though Samantha sticks to the story that she’s not learning anything—just playing) but Samantha is doing a lot of classwork and she’s doing a good job. I guess the best part is she doesn’t know she’s learning J
Well, it’s Friday again so we will be having pizza and movie night—with a twist. The girls have invited friends to spend the night. Kaitlyn’s friend is definitely coming but we’re still waiting to hear about Samantha’s. I really hope she can make it because Samantha is soooooo excited about the idea. There is a “Holiday Market and Fete” right after school today. I know Santa will be there and it’s to be set up kind of like a market but I’ll have to wait until I experience it to share more details. I’m planning to leave Olivia at home with Miss Charity (our house helper) so that I can give the girls my full attention. I think Brad might even make it J
Well, hope all is well back home. I know you all are getting ready for Christmas. I hope to get us doing the same thing this weekend. I’m hoping the girls and I can do a lot of “homemade” things this year since I have the time J I am loving having time to spend with my girls again! I’d love to hear from you either in the comments or by email. I know it’s hard being so busy. I’ll be in touch again soon.
Love,
Zookeeper

That sling is great, but I am too far away to come fix you when your back is all out of wack because that is a sure way to do it, lol (always is therapist mode) I miss ya'll and can't wait to talk to you on skype again. Lots of XOXOXOXOXOXOXOXO'S for every one and "head love" for my olivia.
Love Carrie
Thanks for continually updating the zoo. I do look forward to hearing about your adventure. And having the pictures is extra special. It is like witnessing the girls as they grow up. They seem to be so happy. I am pleased that they have settled in so well. Tell Samantha that she may have to wait a year or so before she can drive that right-handed van. She must remember that the dually was a left -handed model and there is a little difference in terms of available room between her backyard and my hayfield. Maybe when Granny Mom and I get over there we’ll find us an open field and a rented truck.
It is good that traditions like Friday night pizza and a movie are so easily transferred. Did they ever locate Princess Diaries (one)? Aren’t laptops great? They can double up as word processors and home entertainment centers. One day they may even be used to compute something.
Well I better go see if I can wake Granny Mom. Have a wonderful week.

dear zookeeper and family,
i am just now catching up with your adventures on the wonderful blog! it's like you are next door!
i'm honored to be known for my fiber skills, all the way across the pond. i guess sewing is an international skill. mary g told me this week that she has finished her quilt top, that she started a year or so ago! now, on to the rest of the project. you must add her to the list of international ones !
it's thrilling to see your beautiful family, growing, healthy and happy. what a gift. i trust brad is happily busy with his new duties.
i hope this finds all well with you, christy. i agree with carrie's post... i'm not too sure about YOUR back and olivia's little body.
i'm looking forward to reading again soon.
love,
mary, in the woods (an old rusty p.t.)
