We're Adopting!!!!!

Ok--since mom has had no warning, and before she has a heart attack....we adopted a little girl mastiff puppy yesterday. This may seem out of the blue and it is--kind of. Ever since visiting home this summer and spending time with my sister and her family in Memphis, my heart has been tugging at getting a puppy for Kaitlyn. I would walk in to various rooms and find Kailtyn lying on the floor next to Sadie with her arm across her and petting her. She has wanted a dog for so long, and really loved Sadie. So Brad and I talked about the possiblity of getting a dog or puppy for the girls for Christmas.

Some of you know that for many years we have wanted a Mastiff. So when I went to meet a couple friends to run Monday morning, and one of them mentioned she had a friend with the cutest Mastiff puppies for sale, I was very interested. Brad and I went and looked at the 2 pups that were left and decided to take the girls back the next day to get one. It was a complete surprise for the girls. They were so excited! We picked her up at lunch so this is her first full day at home. The older girls had horse back riding after picking her up, so Olivia had a few hours to get to know her before her sisters came and took over.

When we got in the car to bring her home, Samantha said she looked like an Oreo. Olivia immediately said "I yuv oo Oreo". So needless to say, the name stuck and Oreo is the newest member of our family. She is 9 weeks old and seems quite massive to me for that age (but that's what we expected). Kaitlyn can barely carry her around. She's (Oreo) quite clumsy and trips over her own feet and falls down when she tries to run. It takes a lot of energy so she kind of bounces as she runs, ears, flopping, and feet going everywhere. She loves to follow the girls around and she apparently likes to eat the leaves of strawberry plants. She and momma will fight over that one. :)

All the way home, Olivia blew kisses to Oreo and kept repeating "I yuv oo Oreo"

We fashioned a little "pen" out of our traveling trunks on the front porch. Olivia wouldn't come out so I gave her a little chair to sit in. I needed to prepare dinner so I would check on them out the window every few minutes.

Olivia getting some loving from Oreo.
Oreo licked Olivia until Olivia fell over and then she climbed on top of her so she could continue to reach her face. I had to lift her off. She is already too heavy for Olivia to control herself.
