Olivia, I think, had a very nice birthday. We did not have her party on her actual birthday and instead went out for the traditional donuts. I was about to let it slip, but Kaitlyn and Samantha have honed in on that tradition and make sure we don't miss any chances to eat donuts. We have now found a nice bakery so the family headed out the morning of Oilvia's birthday for donuts at Butterfield bakery.
Olivia is already great at opening presents though she's still a little slow and her sisters get antsy and feel they need to speed things up. (Note the helping hand in the bottom of the screen)
Almost there! One shoe out, now the second. Unfortunately, mom purchased these for her birthday back in November when daddy was in the states and Olivia is obviously growing at warp speed. The shoes were too small already much to mom's and Olivia's disappointment.
But Olivia is not one to be discouraged so easily and insisted that her plump little foot be shoved into the shoes. We did get one in, but as with most of us, one foot is larger than the other and couldn't be forced in without the permanent removal of soft tissue. Oh well. She was a good sport about it in the end and got to show off one sparkly shoe for a few minutes before circulation ceased!
Ummmmmmmm. Nothing better than chocolate covered fried dough!
Pure joy! Don't you just want to kiss her? We had her party on Sunday following her birhtday and rented an inflatable water slide and set up the baby pool and toys outside for a nice outdoor day of fun. Olivia got a head start before the guests arrived.
You pick out your inflatable from a picture the size of 2 postage stamps so it's hard to tell the dimensions very well. When it arrived, we ended up with a very steep slide into a small little pool at the bottom. The kids flew down the slide so we had to ease Olivia down. Notice Daddy ready and waiting to catch her. Well......Daddy missed (I guess she was slippery) and she flew right past into the water. This was Olivia's first and last trip down the slide. Oops :)
It looks like he's got her......once again, looks can be deceiving. Is she having fun yet? Not by the looks of that face. Oh well, the slide was for the older kids anyway.
All better. She quickly forgave Kaitlyn and decided to stay at the bottom and play in the pool. She did enjoy seeing the big kids fly down the slide into the water.
Mom's not the best at remembering all the details like.......it's rainy season. It was a beautiful, hot, sunny day until 10 minutes after the party officially started. Rainy season is a series of flash thunderstorms. So the kids got to play in the water for 10-15 minutes at a time every 30 minutes or so between thunderstorms. I was very thankful for our large home and room for all the kids to play and spread out.
We had a joint party with friends so we had 3 birthday girls. Kaitlyn is helping keep Olivia's hands out of the candles while everyone sang Happy Birthday. The candles were eventually blown out, but not by Olivia...I think someone on the front row got tired of waiting. We'll have to work on lung capacity before December 12th next year :)
A break in the weather.....time to slide.
The dads were on slide watch while Charles and Walter batted around the beach ball.
I don't know if you can tell from the picture, but Olivia and Madi are dancing together. Kinda looked like a "Stomp" show.
Kaitlyn swimming with friends Genesis and Amber. Shortly after this, the boys started a flip competition into the pool. I think all the older siblings had a good time as well. We had a great day and wish you all could have been here.
Signing out for now!
